Sweet & fortified wines
| Maury Vintage Rouge 2005, Mas Amiel. | Vin doux naturel, a deep ruby, expressing cherry, crème de cassis, red fruits and bitter chocolate, reinforced by a little spice and fine tannins. Simply divine. |
| Recioto de Soave Vigna Marone 2004, Tamellini. | Complexity and grandeur reminiscent of great Sauternes. A glass of old gold, with sweet dried fruit kept in line by a striking vein of citric acidity. Exquisite and impressive. |
| Don PX Dulce Gran Reserva 1979, Bodegas Toro Albala. | Black as Turkish coffee, with super-concentrated flavours of figs, raisins and molasses. 25 years in a solera, luscious and sticky. Christmas pud, sticky toffee, or vanilla ice cream. Lovely |
| Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Doux Symphonie d'Automne 2006, Domaine Berthoumieu. | Melting pears in wild clover honey, a confit of fruits, an autumn rapture. Late harvested Petit Manseng and Petit Courbu create a late season delight. |
| Monbazillac Cuvee Abbaye 2003, Domaine de l'Ancienne Cure. | Deep gold, honeyed, fat peaches and hazelnuts, run through by fine acidity - this will give top Sauternes a run for its money. |
| Vin d'Autan 2005, Domaine les Tres Cantous. | Similar to Tokaji, sweet yet fresh, apples and pears tinged with syrup and a persistent nutty finish. |
| Sagrantino di Montefalco Passito 2001, Paolo Bea. | Unbelievable. Huge, raisiny port-like nose, but unfortified. Sweet and rich, but with fresh apple acidity in there somewhere. A wine of sensuality and promise you can almost sink into. |
We can offer a wide range of sherries, ports and madeiras, and will put together a tasting based around any of these and the above wines in consultation with you. The possibilities are endless!
